Survivor Story
Uncomfortable skin
Sweet smile stolen from me
Trust an older male without a second thought
Young and naive
You should have stayed naive
You should have stayed a kid
The touch was foreign
Stuck in place like glue on your shoe
Unknown actions done to you
Then locked away in a small dog cage
Skin feeling uncomfortable
The small space so confining
You never feared confinement
Until you felt it
Years go by
Your brain clears
Memories flood back
Eyes are cloudy
Face streaked in stolen tears
Stolen innocence
You couldn’t say no
You didn’t even know what that touch meant
You didn’t even know it was wrong
You didn’t even know to say no
Now it’s too late
So you live with that uncomfortable skin
That unwanted touch
When you get looks from an older man
Feeling touch not knowing if you like it or not
Your skin feels tight and crawls the same way it did that day
But now you know what it means
And you know how to say no
You know what it means
You never forget that girl
The one you were meant to be
But you’ll never be her again
For you have changed forever
