Love Songs to Groom You to, by Rainier

This piece explores how music can hurt and heal; how intentionality may or may not be present. The artist heard these songs repeatedly as a background to their abuse. At the time, these songs seemed to be just that - another cluster of songs (both separate and singular). A background track. The artist came to realize these songs shared more about this abuser’s psyche and proved a mixed warning. Now, the artist is able to enjoy these songs through reclamation - and despite the history they have with the songs, they have little meaning at all to the artist. They are background tracks to more meaningful things.
